Rabia Ghoor, Founder of Swiitch Beauty

Rabia pursued her business, part-time, at 14 years old before dropping out of school a year later to commit 100% to Swiitch Beauty. Once that giant leap of dropping out of school had settled in Rabia was fuelled by her passion and was ready to show the world what she brings to the beauty industry. Baring in mind that South Africa has a limited range of beauty brands and also a huge gap between high end and drug store cosmetic brands, Rabia took the responsibility to bring beauty to South Africa in a fresh way. Now 21 years old with Swiitch Beauty have grown beyond what she could imagine. Rabia has expanded Swiitch Beauty into the skincare industry as well.

Jessica Blacker Founder of Jecca Blac

Jecca Blac epitomises inclusive beauty. The brand is vegan, inherently inclusive to all genders, pronouns, shapes and sizes. Jecca Blac is one of those transparent brands that you know you can trust their mission statement because the representation in their advertising makes it all completely honest. Jessica first started as a studio, the purpose of Jecca Blac studio was to provide a save space for transwomen to experiment with their make up. Taking a step further Jessica done the make up of transwomen in prison, it was during that time that Jessica realised that the world needs to be more inclusive. Beauty is a concept too complex to be attached to one gender, it is something we all relate to in one way or another and should therefore be open to all.

Antoneta Bursac founder of KLAR SKIN

Antoneta started her business from a pure consumer point of view, she became extremely frustrated with the lack of long-lasting solutions available when she started to suffer from adult acne in her mid-20s. Despite investing in the best skin care products and treatments the results were always short-lived. Antoneta knew what it’s like to go through the horrible trial and error process and just wanted to provide consumers with a brand with a sole focus on skin. Hence, KLAR SKIN focused on holistically great skincare from the core. It is not always common to find an owner of a skincare company who actually uses their own products but Antoneta is that owner. Because she formulated the brand for her needs first she is the best testimony for her own brand that really works.

Cashmere Nicole, founder of Beauty Bakerie

After a courageous and successful battle with breast cancer, Cashmere learnt the definition of resilience and channeled that energy into creating a business based on spreading happiness and standing up for what is right. Beauty Bakerie is cruelty free and inclusive but it is also dubbed the “activist make u brand”. Cashmere made it a point to use the brand to also be vocal about injustices like the Muslim Ban and movements like Black Lives Matter. “I’ve always felt a sense of duty to use my platform to inform, to encourage & educate, to uplift, unite and inspire others to see the value in being sweet; being a person that looks beyond the surface for the things that truly make a difference in the world.” Cashmere is challenging the beauty industry to acknowledge the power we have to make many changes.
